Dr. Gans, DVM

Dr. Samantha Gans, DVM, is a skilled and compassionate veterinarian at Arizona Spay and Neuter Clinic Scottsdale. She graduated from Midwestern University in 2020, having participated in The 5th Year program at Hippo Veterinary Group. With over a decade of experience in veterinary medicine, Dr. Gans has honed her expertise in soft tissue surgery, emergency care, ICU, and geriatric patient management. Her love of medicine inspired her to become a veterinarian, and she approaches patient care as a team effort, always emphasizing the pet’s quality of life. Dr. Gans is committed to staying innovative with new procedures, techniques, and treatments, ensuring that she provides the best standard of care for both pets and their parents.

Outside of work, Dr. Gans enjoys hiking, boating, fishing, creating art, and exploring with her family. She has a unique hobby of rock collecting and loves traveling to beach destinations. At home, she cares for a diverse family of animals, including two horses named Kid and Penny, two cats named Hank and Decoy, and two dogs named Breezy and Buoy. Dr. Gans finds great fulfillment in seeing critical patients recover and return home. She advises aspiring veterinarians to embrace lifelong learning, finding lessons in every experience, big or small.

Dr. Kerby, DVM

Dr. Samuel A. Kerby, DVM, is a dedicated veterinarian at The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic and Arizona Spay and Neuter Clinic Scottsdale. A 2018 graduate of Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Kerby is also Fear Free Certified and Recover Certified. He serves as a founding mentor in The 5th Year program at Hippo Veterinary Group and is a member of the AVMA.

With six years of professional experience, Dr. Kerby specializes in emergency care and animal behavior. His journey in veterinary medicine began at the age of 14, driven by a passion for helping people through their pets. He approaches patient care as a collaborative effort involving clients, pets, and his dedicated staff, embodying his core values of empathy, honesty, and communication.

Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Kerby shares his home with a big orange cat and a quirky corgi. Outside of work, he enjoys disc golf, hiking, and cooking. He has a particular fondness for otters, admiring their intelligence and playful nature. Dr. Kerby finds immense reward in addressing behavioral issues, strengthening the bond between pets and their owners. His future goals include revolutionizing the education and treatment of new veterinary graduates to enhance the field of veterinary medicine nationwide.

Dr. Engelschall, DVM

Dr. Beth Engelschall was born in Illinois and moved to Arizona with her family in 1998. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science. She then attended Colorado State University where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2017. During school, she had the opportunity to travel to rural Nicaragua and Costa Rica to volunteer her services and to volunteer at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand. After graduating, she returned home to Arizona to start her career as a veterinarian. Her professional interests include preventative medicine, feline medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, hiking, reading, and cooking. She shares her home with five rescue cats – Marshmallow, Waldo, Baxter, Archie, and Smudge, and her rescue dog named Toby.

Dr. Gasper, DVM

Dr. Je’Pierah Gasper is from Sacramento, CA but was raised in San Tan Valley, AZ. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went to complete her veterinary degree at Midwestern University. In her free time she likes cake decorating, playing video games, watching movies, and playing fetch with her two dogs – Leilani and Delilah.

Dr. Magnussen, DVM

Dr. Hailey Magnussen was born in Southern California but grew up in Arizona and attended Arizona State University for her undergrad. She worked as a veterinary technician at The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic before going to veterinary school at Colorado State University. She worked in the surgery department and critical care unit at CSU throughout vet school, and developed a passion for soft tissue surgery and emergency medicine, as well as preventative care. Although she loved the beautiful hiking and winter activities Colorado had to offer, she is excited to be back in Arizona! She has a dog, Rocco, and a cat, Spunky. In her free time, she enjoys camping, spending time with her family, hiking, and cooking.

Treva Springfield – Hospital Administrator

Tre was born in Denver, Colorado. She has lived in Phoenix since she was baby and basically considers her self a native. She has worked with our company since the day we opened. She loves, hiking camping and going to the beach in her free time. She has three dogs and two cats and a handful of saltwater fish. She loves kids and puppies.
